The French VET system : let’s be young professionnals!

French apprenticeship aims at giving young people, from 16 to 26, who have completed compulsory schooling, a general, theoretical and practical training. A minimum of 400 hours per year are spent in apprentice training centres (centre de formation d’apprentis /CFA) whereas the time left is spent in an enterprise. Depending on the type of profession and the qualification sought, apprentices develop their skills and competences during one, two or three years.

AFORP Training Centre : the best way for industrial apprentices

AFORP CFIT (Industrial and Technological Training Centre) trains future operators, technicians and advanced technician in industry.

AFORP is the major training centre for industry and technology in France: more than 1600 apprentices and 1700 employees are trained in our centres every year. Affiliated to the National Network of Metallurgy, we are a NGO (association French law 1901). Closely linked to industry, our 4 centres are located in the most dynamic French region, the Ile-de-France, with Paris as a capital (training centres in  AsnièresDrancy – le Bourget, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Mantes).

AFORP aims at guiding and training every one looking for a diploma, a job or a career in the industrial area. 126 trainers, fully aware of the specifics of industry, cater for apprentices in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Design of Industrial Products, Maintenance and Electronics as well as in Information Technology with qualifications in development and Network administration.

Diplomas apprentices are trained for are roughly the same as English NVQ Levels in terms of competences, although their examinations include general papers. The BTS certificate is equivalent to a HNC (or an NVQ Level 4 in terms of competences in the workplace) and is achieved in 2 years after the « Technical Baccalaureate » which is an English NC. AFORP also provides training at Bachelor Level in partnership with various universities.

But we are aware that this is no longer enough to find a job. This is why, our apprentices prepare for various qualifications such as TOEIC BRIDGE, TOEIC or computer qualifications.

  • EFACI: The Franco-German School of Commerce and Industry - in partnership with Aix-la-Chapelle IHK - for the preparation of a double degree BTS management accounting, hosting French and German apprentices, in collaboration with the Franco-German Chamber of Commerce.
  • IMA Casablanca: Institut des Métiers de l’Aéronautique de Casablanca.
  • Cardinal Mercier, Brussels.
